July 19, 2026- Vulnerability is beautiful

You should never be ashamed to admit you have been wrong. It only proves you are wiser today than yesterday.

~Jonathan Swift

We don’t have to be perfect. When we are imperfect, we don’t need to pretend that we’re not. It does not serve us to fail to be honest with ourselves or with anyone else about our shortcomings.

We are works in progress. That progress will never reach the threshold of perfection, but that doesn’t mean we can’t work toward that direction. Don’t we feel like we’re a better version of ourselves than we were years ago? Don’t we plan to be an even better version in years to come?

There is no shame in admitting we were wrong before. The fact that we were wrong and were able to admit it gave us space that we were able to grow into, to claim for ourselves. Without that admission, we may have remained right where we were. Don’t we want more?

We are human. We are flawed. We are still beautiful and worthy of love, just as we are. If perfection is a requirement of love, we will forever be trying to hide away the things that we know are flawed. Without any willingness to expose those flaws, we can’t address them. We will be obligated to try to hide them forever.

Vulnerability is beautiful. Be wrong. Admit it. Fix it. Grow into a better version of you.
