We don’t own the universe around us. Our best choices don’t guarantee the best results. Sometimes we get lucky. Sometimes, we do everything right and things still go wrong. All we can do is stack the deck in our favor.

Results help us discover trends. We have a vision of the best version of us. We know that whenever we make certain choices, we seem to move closer to that version of us, and whenever we make certain other choices, we seem to move farther away. All we can do is try to make the choices that serve us, then understand that the universe will always have something to say about what happens to us. Our results are not always a direct result of our choices, but our journey is. We can’t always control what happens to us, but we can always control how we react to it.

Sometimes we just have to make a choice. We may not always have all the information in front of us to choose correctly. We may steer ourselves directly into hardship. This is part of our journey. Life is not always going to be easy and smooth, even though we’re doing the best we can. We have overcome hardship before and we can do it again. We are strong. We are resilient. Our discipline and grace will carry us through.
