Holding onto anything is like holding onto your breath. You will suffocate. The only way to get anything in the physical universe is by letting go of it. Let it go and it will be yours forever.
~Deepak Chopra
How much baggage do we spend our entire lives walking around with because we cannot or will not simply set it down? We make our lives so much more difficult than they truly need to be because of our outright refusal to let go.
All the anger, the hostility, the resentment we feel based on the actions of others – we could let that go. Those feelings don’t serve us. They don’t prevent others from treating us in a way we don’t want to be treated. Wouldn’t our lives be better if we didn’t hold onto those feelings?
What do we truly want? Don’t we want peace, happiness, stillness? What prevents us from having those things? Is it the chaos that comes from the outside or from within? What if we were to experience things without the dark narrative that we surround those experiences with? What if we let fleeting moments simply flee?
The life we dream of likely sees us free of the burden of the past. Let’s learn to create some of what we envision by simply letting go of the things we really don’t care to hold onto. We can choose peace. We can choose to refuse to experience pain from the past. Let it go.
