Whatever excites you, go do it. Whatever drains you, stop doing it.

A company’s budget is a moral document. It spells out where the priorities lie. It shows what the company is willing to invest in.
For individuals, the greater moral document is our calendar. What are we willing to invest our time in? We can claim that things are important to us, but unless our calendars provide evidence, how important could they really be?
It’s truly difficult. Our lives pull us in so many directions. There’s the opportunity to fill every minute of our lives with tasks, from our deepest obligations to our inane time-sucks. The items in our calendars become our priorities, whether we want them to be, or not.
How much of our lives do not align with our dreams? How much time are we spending on things we would never put on a list of our stated priorities? How much of our lives are we allowing to be controlled by distractions? How much of our lives are spent doing what we thought we were supposed to do or things that would look good on a profile or a résumé?
Can we practice discipline with our time? Can we align our actions with our intentions? Can we replace the time we are spending on things that drag us down with things that lift us up? Can we spend our time on work that has meaning, on relationships that fulfill us, on behaviors that help us evolve?
