June 6, 2026- Don't we have enough to do?

Never waste valuable time, or mental peace of mind, on the affairs of others – that is too high a price to pay.

~Robert Greene

Don’t we have enough to do in just trying to keep our own affairs in order? Don’t we have enough drama in the events that directly affect us? Do we really need to be a part of the gossip, to lend unsolicited advice, to hear what everyone else is talking about?

If we want peace, we can’t invite all the chaos we find. The universe presents us with challenges. We will choose our own struggles, whether through the hobbies we take on or the areas in which we seek growth. Every bit of time and energy we place in others’ business takes our limited resources and spreads them out thinner than they need to be.

There will be places and times where people need our help. We can be generous, empathetic, and compassionate without being nosy or mettlesome. Life is not an issue of People Magazine, laid out for everyone to gawk at the intricacies of others’ successes and sorrows.

Instead of making an effort to be in the know, why don’t we spend more time and energy knowing ourselves? Why don’t we use that energy to truly reflect on our dreams and what small, sustainable changes we can make to get closer to them? Surely, that will keep us busy.
