Conscious thoughts, repeated often enough, become unconscious thinking.
~Joe Dispenza
It is almost impossible to comprehend how our brains don’t melt down. With all that constant activity, even during our sleep, although those electrical impulses firing between synapses, the fact that our brains are able to stay cool enough to remain healthy is a feat of natural engineering that is nothing short of miraculous.
All this activity is expensive. A huge portion of the calories we need to take in each day are used to keep that thing running. Are most of our thoughts worth the expense?
Practice makes permanent. This is especially true of our brains. As we repeat similar thoughts over and over, the brain creates a myelin sheath, a protective coating that speeds up the flow between those neurons, making it even easier to return to that thought in the future. This is both efficient and dangerous.
You may think that self-deprecation is cute, humble, or endearing. In reality, it is harmful. Those things you’re saying out loud are repeating themselves inside your brain, and wiring neurons together to make it seem true.
Control your thoughts before they control you. Keep thinking and talking about the best version of yourself until it becomes the real you. Discipline, grace, reflection, and resilience will turn intention into reality.
