October 15, 2025- The old you

They want the “old you” back, not understanding that that old you can’t come back. That self is gone.

~Megan Devine

How good were the good old days, really? How long does it take before today becomes a good old day of the future?

If we were not better at nostalgia than we are about remembering suffering, the species would be in trouble, as what woman would experience childbirth twice?

We love to put on rose-colored glasses, when thinking about the past. At the same time, we seem to let pessimism and negativity permeate our projections of the future.

We have no control over the past, only the stories we choose to tell about it. We can tell any story we would like about the future, then we can make it more realistic by making choices today to facilitate that story.

Let the vision you hold up as the best version of you become your future. Turn your dreams into reality, one choice at a time. Stop worrying about the good old days, and start creating new ones.

The old you is gone. This happens with each new day. We can hold onto what we would like to keep and let go of the rest, moving incrementally closer to our dreams each day.
