When it is obvious the goals cannot be reached, don’t adjust the goals, adjust the action steps.
~Confucius
Our dreams are not too big. If we’re going to spend some time dreaming, why would we not dream of something big? Why would we settle for less than we may be capable of reaching?
Just because our dreams are big does not mean the steps we must take to work for them are. We have our entire lives to reach our goals, and as long as we are making incremental progress toward them, we can count that as success.
Worthy goals cannot be reached all at once. Worthy goals cannot be achieved without a carefully planned, multi-step process. At any point along that journey, if we stop and compare our results to our goals, we will be failing. That, too, is part of the process. What small, sustainable changes can we make to get just a bit closer to success?
This will all require resilience. Can we give ourselves grace, and admit to failure? Can we give ourselves credit for having the courage and the confidence in ourselves to dare to dream something that the current version of us cannot achieve? Can we exercise the discipline required to plan and execute small steps toward our goals? And can we love ourselves, unconditionally, at every step of our journey?
