September 18. 2025- Honor your own vision

We must not allow other people‘s limited perceptions to define us.

~Virginia Satir

We can easily fall right into line with our expectations. We can confirm people’s opinions over and over. In fact, even if our actions do not entirely confirm those opinions, people will focus on the actions that do, and easily discard the rest. Unless we provide a compelling set of actions to change their minds, they won’t.

To be clear, we cannot live our lives with the purpose of appearing a certain way to a certain set of people. We must live our lives in authenticity, seeking only to align our actions with our intentions. It is our own vision that truly matters.

We can say we don’t care what other people think, but we do; it’s human nature. Connection is integral to our well-being, so we must be mindful of how our actions impact those around us, even if only to protect ourselves.

We will inevitably be told, from time to time, that we are limited. We can’t do this and we shouldn’t even try that. The only time we should listen to that talk is when the thing we are about to attempt does not align with our own vision of the best version of us.

Let those around you lift you up, not hold you down. Trust and honor your own vision, above all.
