We plant a tree, hoping it will grow into something bigger. It is not that the seed or the sapling has less worth than an older tree. In fact, it may have more value because it has so much life out in front of it. If it doesn’t get the water, the sunlight, and the firm ground it needs for its roots, it will not mature into something majestic. It will never be that source of shade. It will never support our swing. It will never bless us with piles of leaves to jump in.

We are works in progress. Whether we were recently planted or we’ve been in our families for generations, we have growth ahead of us. Today is just a snapshot. Wherever we are on this journey through life, we are worthy of love just as we are. Maybe we have a lot of life still in front of us, or maybe we don’t. We all have today. For us to make our best choices today, we must feel like we are worthy of those choices. We are worthy of love, just as we are. We are worthy of the nurturing required to help us grow into a better version of ourselves.

Today, grow a little bit closer to the sun. You are worthy of all the world has to offer. Remain firmly, rooted in the soil of self love, which will support that growth.
