November 29, 2025- A message that will lift you up

A reliable way of making people believe in falsehoods is frequent repetition, because familiarity is not easily distinguished from truth.

~Daniel Kahneman

That perpetual inner dialogue that you think doesn’t matter because you don’t say those things out loud in front of others – this becomes your truth.

How much of that inner dialogue would we rebuke if we heard it in an exchange? Would we allow our sons to talk to our daughters the same way we speak to ourselves?

We justify our own self criticism. We claim that it motivates us. Calling myself stupid motivates me to think before I speak. Calling myself fat motivates me to eat fewer cookies. Calling myself lazy causes me to hit pause on Netflix. All that may be true, but at what cost? Why would we take the behaviors we want to promote and label them as punishment for our failure to be exactly what we want to be?

Let’s draw out the best in us, rather than doing all this work to try to push out the worst. Let’s create an inner dialogue that will nurture, not punish. Let’s focus the spotlight on our strengths, not our flaws. Let’s offer ourselves undeniable, unconditional love.

That voice you think nobody can hear matters. One person can hear it, and that one person should be the most important person in your world. Repeat a message that will lift you up until you come to believe it.
