November 30, 2025- A better calendar

The easiest way to increase happiness is to control your use of time. Can you find more time to do the things you enjoy doing?

~Daniel Kahneman

Our calendar is a document of our priorities. We can wish things to be important to us. We can even say openly that they are, but until we give those things real time and space, they are not. Thoughts are just thoughts, until they become actions.

Much of our schedule seems to be dictated to us, but that’s not really true. Our schedules are a result of choices we made in the past, and today’s appointments were chosen by us.

Social media outlets make billions of dollars by selling our time and attention to advertisers, yet we often do not treat it as precious. When we come to the end of one week, it may serve us to write down the things that we truly value, the things that make us happy. When we come to the end of the next week, we can then reflect on whether or not we carved out time for those things. If not, what did our calendar suggest that we truly value? If our values and our calendars didn’t align, it’s likely we weren’t all that happy.

Can you put happiness on your calendar? Can you create alignment between your time and the life you dream of? Can you engineer a happier, more fulfilling life by choosing to schedule it? Build a better calendar; build a better you.
