We can either choose to be free and happy in the unknown or to be confined and suffer in the familiar.
~Joseph Nguyen
The best things in our lives were not birthrights; they were things we came to through our choices. Even if chance brought us a certain set of circumstances, we welcomed those circumstances and allowed them to impact us. We accepted change into our lives.
Our habits cannot act to confine us; our habits are there to support us. Our habits provide us with the foundation upon which we can build a life that welcomes positive change. Because we have structures we can count on, we can handle some of the unknown. We can afford to take risks, because we have the safety of our habits to catch us when we fall.
Our lives are not perfect, just as they are, and neither are we. Can we accept change? Can we try something new? Can we understand that trial inevitably is accompanied by error, but we can learn a lot through error? Can we understand that if we want to let a better version of ourselves in, we are going to need to let some of what is existing die away? Can we engineer a better life for ourselves, one potentially scary choice at a time?
